Technology Innovator startup seeks Graphical User Interface (GUI) for its new Biotech/Pharmaceutical product, the BioRyx™ 200 System.

The Customer

ARRYX, Inc., a Chicago-based company, develops and manufactures nanophotonics components. These products are made using our proprietary holographic optical trapping ("HOT") technology, which is fundamental to microminiaturization across all industries. The Arryx technology is an optically-based platform in much the same way that current integrated circuit technology is an electronics-based platform.

The Problem

Arryx technology can be utilized as the key enabling component in a astounding number of applications. Many of these different applications have implementation methods specific to the applications' users or to their industry. Arryx sought to build an interface between their technology and users in the biological and pharmaceutical areas that intuitively provided a direct pathway between users' goals and the technology's power. Arryx needed software experts who are comfortable and effective at communicating with scientists and engineers, who understand the needs and requirements of a seamless user interface, and who are adept at project planning as well as rigorous project management.

The RightHand Solution

Defining multiple paths that move trapped objects in three dimensionsRightHand Software Engineers took on the task of building a custom Windows based Graphical User Interface (GUI) for the BioRyx™ 200 System. RightHand's experience in building custom Windows GUIs for other types of industries was key in helping Arryx through a smooth development process for their BioRyx™ 200 system. The BioRyx™ interface integrates the manipulation of interactive graphical objects that are overlaid on real time video and simultaneously coordinated with stored video. The manipulation of optical traps was made intuitive by this integration of historical information, current information and the users' yet-to-be-implemented commands to the system. This integration gives the BioRyx™ user a unique experience in placing Holographic Optical Traps. By greatly simplifying and automating the previous command prompt interfaces and special mathematics procedures, non-specialists can quickly learn to use the BioRyx™ 200. This opens the easy use of HOT to a broad array of scientists, engineers and technicians who would otherwise face large barriers to using it in their work.

Arryx is so pleased with the quality of work from RightHand, they have enlisted RightHand's help on continuing releases for their BioRyx™ line.
